Why Give?

Compass provides housing and critical services to more than 3,000 parents and children each year, enabling families to move from homelessness to stability and self-sufficiency.

Seventy-five percent of our annual budget is funded through government support.  However, in order to provide the high-quality services that our families need, we depend on the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community for the remaining 25% of our operational costs.

Please consider making a donation today.  Your contribution will help struggling families in our community improve their lives and provide promising futures for their children.  We thank you for your support!

Compass is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.  All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our federal tax identification number is 94-1156622.

Compass also accepts donations of clothing, baby supplies, and other items.  Please view our wishlist.

Adopt-A-Family and Holiday Support

Compass’s Adopt-A-Family program pairs individuals or groups from the community with needy families who lack the resources to buy holiday gifts.  Donors receive a wish list for each member of their ‘adopted’ family, including toys, clothing, and household items.  We ask that donors spend at least $50 on each family member. 

To be matched with a family this holiday season, or to be put on the mailing list for next season’s Adopt-A-Family, please email kmansfield@compass-sf.org.

Compass also organizes a yearly holiday party during which we give gifts to each of the children accessing our services (there are 300-400 during a typical holiday season).  You can help by organizing a toy drive at your school, office, or place of worship.  Please contact kmansfield@compass-sf.org.

Tiny Tickets

The five or ten cents left on your old BART ticket can go a long way to helping the programs of Compass Community Services. To donate, simply drop your old tickets in an evelope - even demagnitized tickets - and send them to: Compass Community Services, Development Department, 49 Powell Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94102.
