SF Community makes Mother’s Day Bright for compass moms
Le Colonial Hosts Luncheon and Community Pitches In With Gifts For Compass Moms
Compass moms and their families were treated to a special luncheon last Sunday on Mother’s Day by San Francisco’s very own Le Colonial. This was the second year in a row to host the event and it was expanded to include more families as well as inviting the community to participate by providing items for gift bags for each mom.
“Holidays and other special days like Mother’s Day can be difficult for families who are homeless. Having a couple of hours to relax, enjoy a nice meal with no stress or cost is truly a wonderful and deserved treat for Compass moms,” says Erica Kisch, Executive Director for Compass Family Services. “They’re putting in a lot of hard work to address the barriers that led to their housing crisis. This luncheon celebrates their determination to keep their families together, happy and healthy.”
Individual, family, and corporate team donors throughout San Francisco sent in donations that included bath and beauty items, movie gift certificates, makeup, jewelry, grocery gift certificates, and much more.
Flexportdonated backpacks and a team of their employees volunteered to pack each bag with the gifts for 35 Compass moms. Bistro Boudin donated heart-shaped sourdough rolls for the luncheon and Nothing Bundt Cakes provided individual cakes for dessert.
Compass families and staff attending the event enjoyed incredible food and fun in the photo booth. There were also arts and crafts tables for children to make Mother’s Day cards.
All of us at Compass would like to thank Howard and Michelle at Le Colonial for hosting the event again this year!
