Employee of the Month!
We are proud to announce our March 2019 Employee of the Month - Joanna Garcia!
Joanna has been an instrumental part of the Central City Access Point team since she started a little over a year ago. She joined the program at a time when we were short-staffed, dealing with numerous challenges and changes, and she quickly jumped in to help us build a smooth-running Access Point.
As a bilingual Housing Problem Solving Specialist, Joanna’s work can be summarized by outstanding customer service skills, dedication and passion for working with marginalized communities, and an incredible work ethic that has inspired everyone in the program.
Joanna has developed strong relationships with many of the families we serve and, in particular, has become a poignant advocate for the needs of our monolingual Spanish-speaking clients. She cares deeply about the parents and children who come through the Access Point and always takes the time to help families feel safe and supported in our space. She can often be seen in the drop-in space playing with children while their parents access the donation rack or sitting with a parent to go over essential resources in the community.
Joanna is always up for a challenge and often steps in to support management with various tasks. She brings a positive and honest energy to the team and is someone who many people go to for advice or suggestions. Joanna is the definition of “calm, cool and collected” and we are so lucky to have her on our team! We are so proud of the work that she has done here at Compass and look forward to her continued growth and success.
