Program

Compass Family Services helps homeless families and families at imminent risk for homelessness to achieve housing stability, family well-being, and self-sufficiency. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, behavioral health services, parenting education and support, workforce services, early childhood education and care, and more. We have served the San Francisco community for over 100 years.

Responsibilities

The Technology Manager works in partnership with the Executive Director, the managed IT provider, and the Operations & Facilities Manager to implement technology services at Compass that maximize team effectiveness and outcomes for Compass clients.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Serve as liaison with Compass’ long-standing managed IT provider, EIS Consulting Group.
• Work with Executive Director and other relevant senior staff to create and maintain a dynamic and expansive technology plan for the agency.
• Serve as staff liaison with Board Technology Committee.
• Work with relevant staff to ensure that technology is being maximized in the delivery of services to our client population.
• Determine thresholds for staff IT skills and ensure that all staff have the training, skills and support they need to perform their jobs at or above these thresholds.
• Provide project management on the staff side for any IT-related upgrades or changes.
• Work with our external IT provider to develop and maintain disaster readiness procedures for IT.
• Develop and manage budgets for IT department and for IT infrastructure investments.
• Support updates and changes to phone directory.

Qualifications

• B.A. degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
• At least two years’ experience administering a Microsoft Server and Active Directory environment.
• Demonstrated passion for distributing technology which can drive productivity and enhance work flow and client services
• Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously according to agreed upon schedules and budgets.

• Extensive knowledge of /experience with Microsoft applications and operating systems.
• Extremely thorough, accurate, organized, reliable, able to work independently and willing to ask necessary questions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, conflict resolution and respect for confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff with varying degrees of technical expertise.

Full time employees receive approximately 4 weeks of paid vacation their first year, increasing to approximately 5 weeks in each year after, paid sick and holiday leave, and paid time off for education.

Location & Covid Considerations

The Technology Manager will be based at Compass’ service hub at 37 Grove Street in San Francisco and will also provide support for the agency’s 3 other sites, all within a few blocks of 37 Grove. Some remote work may also be possible. Compass has a wide range of precautions to keep everyone healthy and safe on site, including mandated face coverings, increased cleaning schedules, enhanced air filtration systems, and daily Covid self-screenings. Compass also requires Covid vaccination for all employees.
