How to Volunteer with Compass Family Services

How Do I Become an Individual Volunteer at Compass Family Services?

Compass Family Services offers one-time and long-term individual volunteering opportunities. Fill out our Volunteer Interest Form and our team will follow up with you in a few business days.

What Tasks Do One Time Volunteers Do?

If 2-3 hours per week is more than you feel comfortable committing to, occasional volunteering is for you! Compass Family Services often needs additional hands to help with events, such as back-to-school shoe and backpack drives and distribution, annual Halloween Costume giveaway, decorating program sites for holidays, Toast & Taste fundraiser, the Adopt-a-Family program, and other events and projects, such as painting or site maintenance.

What Tasks Do Long Term Volunteers Do?

Make a lasting impact in your community by becoming a long-term volunteer.

Administrative support We always need help with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing and shredding paper files, stuffing, labeling, sealing and stamping mailings, preparing for events, sorting and organizing donations and data entry.

Skill-based projects We are always looking for volunteers to contribute their talents to support us in various fields:

  • Research — You can help us stay on top of the ever evolving landscape of public policies, grants, community services and resources.

  • Digital marketing and communications — share with us your skills and creativity in graphic design, SEO, website optimization and more!

What Are the Requirements for Long-Term Volunteering?

  • Commit to 2-3 hours, once per week for at least 3 months

  • Have a background check (adults only)

  • Read and sign the Compass Volunteer Handbook, including confidentiality agreement & health safety agreement

Does Compass Offer Youth Volunteering?

  • Youth volunteers must be at least 13 years old

  • Community service credit for school is available upon request. Please indicate the need for community service hours when filling out the Volunteer Interest Form.

  • Volunteers below the age of 13 are sometimes considered for special family volunteering events as long as there is parental supervision for the entire duration of the volunteering activity.

  • Youth volunteers must have permission from a parent/guardian to volunteer for Compass Family Services
