Adam's service on the Compass Board of Directors began after learning more about the housing crisis and touring Compass programs. With a strong sense of community and responsibility, he has been active in the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, Golden Gate Business Association, SF Marin Food Bank, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

Debbie has 15+ years’ experience funding nonprofits in the private and nonprofit sectors, with a focus on housing and homelessness. She currently provides debt financing for affordable housing development at Silicon Valley Bank.

Debbie previously served on the boards of Lyon-Martin Health Services and HealthRight 360. She earned her B.A. and master’s degree in public policy from UC Berkeley.

Lauren's law practice focuses on complex civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. She has represented clients in both state and federal court.  Lauren has been a long-time donor in Compass' annual Adopt-a-Family holiday project.

Dana is a third generation San Franciscan.  She was a principal and Vice-President of Cal-Steam, a wholesale plumbing supply distributor.  Since selling the business in 2006, she has concentrated her efforts in the non-profit world.

Dana currently serves on the boards of the Contemporary Jewish Museum (since 2008), the Morris Stulsaft Foundation (Secretary), San Francisco State University Foundation and the Jewish Senior Living Foundation. She has been active in the Jewish Community Foundation since 2000, serving as a board member and officer, as well as on the Jewish Community Endowment Fund. Dana is a former board member and officer of American Red Cross, M.t Zion Health Fund (Chair), Congregation Emanu-El, Jewish Family & Children’s Services, SF Jewish Community Center, the J Weekly, and United Way of the Bay Area for Alameda Co.  She is an active supporter of the Guardian Scholar Foster Youth Program.

Kim is a passionate women's health physician and advocate.  She is a graduate of UCSF medical school.  Additionally, she has masters in public health from UC Berkeley where she studied public health policy.  Her community work involves equity and inclusion work and well as reproductive rights advocacy.  She lives in San Francisco with her husband and four children and enjoys participating in Compass activities with her entire family.

David Goldman is currently Executive Director at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco. He is creating a synagogue based on 21st-century management principles so that Emanu-El will be a center of Jewish Civilization in the Bay Area and a model to other institutions nationwide. Before that, he was the Littler Learning Group's managing attorney, the Littler Mendelson division devoted to meeting clients' employment law compliance, management skills, diversity and inclusion training needs.

Beth joined the board because she feels Compass does an excellent job helping those who need it most. She's grateful for the support she received at critical junctures in her life and wants to make sure others in our community have the supports they need. Beth served as a consultant for McKinsey & Co and has held a variety of positions in nonprofit and public sector focusing on family welfare.

Donnie is currently Senior Manager, NAMER, Social Impact Sales at Twilio. A Bay Area native, Donnie launched a life of constant leaning with a degree in Globalization & Consumer Behavior from Cal and an MBA from Saint Mary’s. He strives to drive innovation in the health, finance, education and public sectors by leveraging strategic community alliances. A deep believer in technology’s ability to improve the lives of people of color, Donnie frequently speaks on a wide range of related topics to underrepresented communities country wide. Donnie is a dedicated local volunteer as well, leaning in with both his colleagues and his family in support of local service programs.

Linsey has served for 12+ years within BlackRock's iShares business. She also leads various volunteer and grant making programs within BlackRock through which she first became acquainted with Compass in 2015. Since then, Linsey has managed BlackRock's engagement with Compass and served as a member of the Compass Leadership Council for two years.

Bob was a Founding Partner of DZH Phillips, with extensive experience in audits, reviews, compilations and tax planning, strategic planning, and succession planning. His expertise also includes management consulting and advisory assistance, involving forecasting, budgeting, business planning, and financing. Bob currently chairs the Audit Committee for Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, serves on the board of Wu Yee Children’s Services, where he sits on the Finance Committee, Real Estate Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.   Bob joined the Compass board to help provide lasting solutions for homeless San Francisco families.

Katie is a Principal on the Obvious Ventures investment team where she invests in purpose-driven early stage companies. She has been volunteering with Compass since 2018 and served on the Compass Leadership Council from 2019 through 2023.

Valerie received her B.A. in economics from the University of California at Irvine and her MBA from the Haas School of Business. She is also currently serving on the Board of Trustees of Project Glimmer, a non-profit organization supporting disadvantaged young women & girls, and is active in the  leadership at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco. Valerie and her husband Tim live in San Francisco where they are raising their three daughters.

Kimathi Marangu joined Visa in 2012, and is currently the Global Head of Prepaid. In this role, he leads a fast growing business serving fintech, government, gig economy and digital wallet clients around the world. He holds two U.S. Patent Office awards. Early in his career Kimathi was trained as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley. He brings to Visa an “intrapreneur” mindset and is passionate about the digital transformation of payments.  

Kimathi holds an A.B. in Economics from Vassar College and an M.B.A. from Stanford Business School. A strong advocate for the value of education, Kimathi has served as Chair of the Vassar Fund, and as President of the Stanford Business School Alumni Association.

Kimathi was elected to the Board of the American Red Cross Bay Area in March 2020, where he serves on the Blood Services committee. Visa and Visa Foundation are the 2023 Philanthropic Company of the Year. In July 2022 Kimathi was appointed to the Board of SamCERA, a $6 billion pension fund serving San Mateo public employees.

Tim is a San Francisco native and is passionate about his work with Compass and the impact the organization has on the community. He has 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Tim is also currently on the alumni fundraising committee for University High School.

Steven is a fifth-generation San Franciscan and graduate of Yale University and Stanford Law School. He has worked as a program and financial analyst for the San Mateo County Manager’s Office, a Deputy District Attorney (San Mateo), owner and publisher of San Francisco magazine, and an active small investor in the film, commercial, restaurant, electronics component and real estate industries. Steven was motivated to become  involved with Compass as homelessness has persisted as the preeminent challenge facing our beloved City.

With over 20 years of commercial banking experience, Doug began as a financial analyst, and then assumed roles in product management for deposits and cash management services. Eventually, he was responsible for marketing to commercial clients with over $2B in assets. Doug has also been an entrepreneur, co-founding two successful businesses. Doug serves on the board because he believes that every child deserves a safe and stable home.

Chris Jackson is a President at SFG Asset Advisors with decades of experience in investment and asset management. He has worked at SFG for over 20 years, acting as CIO for the family office responsible for asset planning and global strategy, as well as meaning portfolios, identifying risks, and overseeing manager research. Prior to SFG, Chris worked as a Partner at Barbary Coast Capital Management LLC and Hoover Capital Management, and as Head of Marketing at Emerging Growth Management LLC. Chris received his BA in Economics from Lehigh University.

Mike is an innovative and results-driven Community Broadband Engineer with 15+ years of community-based IT experience, including designing and directing city-wide fiber and Wi-Fi initiatives. Mike currently manages a community-based ISP that provides internet access to over 8,000 users every day in San Francisco. Mike was also part of the Compass staff for 12 years, helping start Compass’ homeless family program back in the early 1990s. He stays involved with Compass because he knows firsthand the tremendous long-term benefits families receive from being part of the Compass family.
