Volunteer to Help Families
During the COVID-19 Health Crisis
The COVID-19 outbreak has created terrible challenges, hardships, and anxiety for the homeless and vulnerable families Compass serves. Compass is working hard each day to meet the needs of our families. There are many ways that you can help in-person and remotely.
Become a volunteer tutor in our Homework Helpers Program!
Homework Helper volunteers will connect, one-on-one, with the kids in Compass programs remotely to provide them with educational support and connection during Shelter-in-Place. Donate a laptop or tablet
Many Compass kids have difficulties with distance learning, such as lack of access to technology and poor internet connection at home. Help us close the digital divide by donating your laptop or tablet! We accept technology within 3 years of age. Please email Abbey Leonard, Director of Development & Communications at aleonard@compass-sf.org.
Help organize and manage donated resources
We need support receiving and organizing the wonderful in-kind donations of clothing, toys, housewares, and more at our 37 Grove services hub. In addition to sorting donations, volunteers help make custom donation boxes for individual clients.
Help with food deliveries
Some families are unable to easily access groceries during the pandemic. We need volunteers who can help deliver meals and groceries to families living at our various locations around Civic Center.
Donate masks to Compass!
Compass Family Services has an increasing need for reusable masks for adults and especially for kids. If you are part of an organization that makes masks or are an individual looking to donate spare, reusable masks that you have made, let us know! Your masks will provide safety for our families during the crisis.
